Who is Step Forward Health Society, and what do you do?
Step Forward Health Society is a charity that promotes mental health by reducing financial barriers to qualified counselling and educational support programs. We offer programs for individuals, couples, families, and youth to ensure everyone can access the help they need.

What is your Registered Charity Number?
Step Forward Health Society is a registered charity in Canada, and our charitable registration number is #746484914RR0001.

I need help. Where do I start?
Our Step Forward Program offers subsidized counselling for individuals with demonstrated financial need. We currently partner with Alongside You, a counselling team that primarily serves residents of Delta, Surrey, and Richmond BC. Contact Alongside You to get your application for financial support started.

What group programs do you offer?
We strive to make mental health care accessible through low-cost or free group programs tailored to different needs. Check the links below for a description and information on how begin the application process. We strive to keep these programs low cost or available on a sliding fee scale.

  • When Love Hurts: Abuse recovery and healthy relationship support for women.

  • MenTOR: Group for men who behave in unhealthy ways in relationships to learn skills and make changes.

  • 2SLGBTQIA+ Youth Mental Health Support Group: A safe, supportive space for queer youth to connect.

  • Pain in the Arts: Chronic pain management through mindfulness and artistic expression.

  • 140 Sports Programs: Youth sports programs with integrated mental health training to build emotional resilience and receive mental health support.

  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT): a 24-week program to equip participants with essential skills to live in the present, manage stress in healthy ways, regulate their emotions, and foster better relationships with others.

Do you offer resources I can use on my own?
We’re working on developing downloadable resources for programs like When Love Hurts, MenTOR, and Pain in the Arts. Stay tuned for updates!

Can you recommend a local counsellor or psychologist?
We partner with local service providers like Alongside You to provide counselling services and some of our group programs. Step Forward Health Society does not provide counselling or counselling recommendations.

How can I volunteer or support your work?
We welcome support through volunteering, donations, or spreading the word about our programs. Visit our Support Us page for details.

Do your programs help with healthy relationships?
Yes! Programs like MenTOR and When Love Hurts focus on building healthy relationships and addressing trauma or abusive patterns.

How can I donate to the Step Forward Health Society?
