Supporting Queer, Trans, and Questioning Teens & Young Adults

…for parents and caregivers

A free, online forum for parents and caregivers of queer, trans, and questioning teens and young adults.

You don’t have to have all the answers right now

Finding out — or wondering if — your child is queer, trans, or questioning can bring up a lot of emotions: love, worry, confusion, grief, hope, sometimes all at once. You don't need to have it figured out to show up here.

This is a space to connect with other parents and caregivers who get it. No judgement, no pressure to have the right language, no expectation that you're further along than you are. Whether you're just starting to process this, supporting a child who's already out, or somewhere in between, you're welcome here.

What to expect:

  • A supportive, confidential space to talk with other parents and caregivers walking a similar path

  • Guidance from Fiona Scott, a facilitator who brings professional experience and lived experience as a parent of a 2SLGBTQIA+ child

  • Practical support — language, resources, and ways to navigate conversations with your child, your family, and your community

  • No obligation to share; you're welcome to just listen

Free. Second Thursday of the month. At 7pm. Online.

You love your kid. That's the only prerequisite. Come as you are, with whatever questions, fears, or hopes you're carrying.

Register here

To help keep this a safe, trusted space for the families who need it, we ask parents and caregivers to register in advance. The video link is sent only to registered attendees rather than posted publicly. You can use the email link below or fill in the form on the right. Both go directly to Fiona. Meet Fiona Scott

Hello!

Hello! I’m Fiona Scott, a Registered Clinical Counsellor here in Delta. I’ve lived in Canada for 25 years, and in Delta (north and south) for 18 of those. I have two grown children, both neurodivergent, and one of whom is trans. My pronouns are she and they.

My own experiences, and those of my kids, have led me to believe that adolescence and young adulthood is the hardest chapter to navigate — for kids themselves, and also for parents. Add into that mix issues around sexuality or gender differences, and it can be a very fraught environment for parents.

As a counsellor, I know how important it is to navigate changing relationships with your child as they grow and mature. As a parent, I know that can be a real challenge! My aim is to provide a safe space, for your kids, and for you, where you feel heard, understood, and supported.

Apart from my counselling credentials, I was a Girl Guide leader for a number of years, and one of my strongest skills (I believe) is being totally unembarrassable! That translates to ‘no question or concern phases me’ — so feel free to bring to me the things you hesitate to bring up to anyone else — I aim to provide a judgement-free zone.

A little about me: I love swimming (badly), baking (pretty well), and singing (I’ll leave that judgement to others!). I’m also a huge nerd, love sci-fi, LEGO, and crafting of any kind. I'm neurodivergent, and it's part of why I care so much about making space for people to show up exactly as they are, mess and all.

I'm looking forward to meeting you. Live long and prosper!
